4) 'Quay Hill, Ballycastle' Postmark 31st August 1935 Ballycastle, Co.
Antrim to J. L. Mc Craig, Claremont, Londonderry - This road passes along in
front of Marine by the sea. Yesterday we had tea in a house to the right
through the trees, and afterwards sat on the green enclosed by the railings.
Ballycastle is a very nice place, I should put it far before Portrush for
motoring roads or tennis. The courts are lovely and nicely situated. Mervyn

1) Postmark Ballycastle 3rd September 19?6 to Mst. J. L. McC. Craig,
Claremont, Londonderry - Antrim Arms, Ballycastle, Sunday - My dear John, We
have finished lunch & have been to a pres. church, of course I don't like it
so well, Rita wanted to sit on the beach, but it was too cold for her, so
when we had been in ten minutes Mer.? & Uncle arrived, it was a good sermon
on the wise & foolish ? always to have plenty of reserve power, and to
always pray, and I find its a help. How is wee John? We must go earlier to
bed, please thank Annette for her cuttings & letters, I will send some P.C.s
to-morrow. I sent four postcards yesterday instead of writing. It has turned
much colder. Rita is ?, we sang "Great God & wilt thou condescend" Uncle is
driving us to Cushendun this afternoon, he is very sporty and kind. We had a
good lunch to-day, very nice trifle & roast beef. Hope you enjoyed the
wireless on Saturday. M? seems in good form to-day. I miss my wee son, I
wonder where ginger has gone, perhaps Magee. Be careful and do as well as
you can. How goes the Rugger? Love from Mums
2) Postmark Ballycastle 5th September 1936 to Mst. J. L. McCrea Craig,
Claremont, Londonderry - Stamp to write Mums - Antrim Arms Hotel,
Ballycastle, Wednesday. My dear wee John, The sun here was lovely. I
miss you sweetheart. Uncle is tired and is not going out to-night. Mer?
forgot his racquet and wonders if you would lend him yours or perhaps A.
would lend his. Rita would bring it, and ask her sure to bring my hat, or
else please tell some of them to post it. I hope you are very careful of
those bad green apples. So darling watch yourself. I am very sorry about W.
Hall on your account, but never mind, some one will turn - surely send me a
wee line, be careful of yourself. I do hope Cecil will get you up in the
morning, dont be late like a dear. I have no news except tell Cecil to make
Grey do the Avenue at the top where it is green, also tell him to tell
Melville not to send more lamb than 2½lbs for Sunday sure dont forget. I
advise you go to church on Sunday, must stop now. Heaps of love, Good night
sweetheart, pleasant dreams. Kisses xxxxx Love from Mums
3) Postmark Ballycastle 7th September 1936 to Mst. J. L. McC. Craig,
Claremont, Londonderry - I have written you & Cecil instead of p. cards -
you should practice a bit. My dear John, Rita arrived yesterday. Will
you be able to go to Miss Howes on Friday, if you let me know I will send
her a p.c. from here on Tuesday. How do you like your new Master. I hope
dear boy you will do well & work well, dont be constipated. Last night was a
downpour, and to-day looks bad. The weather isnt like we had at Portrush,
still its a good rest. Be careful of fire. I hope you have a pleasant
weekend. I have very little news except Uncle is nice & pleasant. I am
stupid forgetting my hat. Wont you practice dear heart. I believe you turned
on wireless when I left (bad boy) Uncle thought Rita would be much better at
Claremont than coming here, so thought I. Its 10.30 so I have finished my
correspondence, I do hope we wont have a wet day. I must draw to a close
now. Watch yourself my wee boy. Love & kisses from Mums

1) Postmark Harrogate, Yorkshire 2nd May 1959 to Mrs. Craig, Claremont
House, Londonderry, N. Ireland - Hotel Majestic, Harrogate. Sat. A.M.
My dearest No??? Just a note to say we are off any moment. I have packed in
record time literally flung things in. It is a lovely morning & I hope it
keeps like this part of the journey anyhow. Kenneth has gone to get the car
& while I wait I send you this note. I hope your back is better, Kenneth
still has the pain & doses himself with aspirin which is the only thing one
can take I think. I enjoyed the dinner last night, pleasant company. K. gave
his speech perhaps not amusing enough for this gathering. We have seen a lot
of people & been running hither & thither but haven't seen much of
Harrogate. It wasn't nice yesterday & it sheeted rain at tea time until we
went down to dinner. We have about 210 miles to do & hope to be home by 5
anyhow if all goes well. I hope you are all well, I am looking forward to
seeing you all so much & hope ? is better, he will have to be careful. I did
not see The Cecil Hotel? perhaps it is the other end of the town. Very much
love & kisses. Ever your loving Rita xxx
2) J. L. McC. Craig, Claremont 7th September 1936 - Ballycastle Wasn't
it sad so many people killed by that man Chambers. A boy of fifteen. I felt
so sorry for his people. Fancy nine people being killed by a motor, poor
creatures, Good night. My dear John, Thank you ever so much for
your nicely written letter. Fancy they have played no tennis yet, they may
get a game tomorrow morning. The weather is very bad indeed. I am glad you
heard the race & enjoyed it. Don't mention it to Uncle. I am sure you are
busy with work etc. The two have gone to the pictures, ? seems dull, I don't
think there is much wrong. I miss you dear wee man, wasn't it a joke Rita &
Uncle were going to sit on the beach & sun themselves on Sunday morning, I
guess they didnt. Rita & I went, and later we saw the two appear, it was
better going to church than sitting in here. I fear tennis is over for this
year sweetheart. Rita is in good form. Uncle wouldn't motor her to
Ballymoney at all, its nearly 30 miles from here. Must close, Good night
Sweetheart. Heaps of love & kisses. Your loving Mums xxx
