Starke was from Missouri, Wallen was from Iowa and had been in the

1) Arrest of Berryman at Garvagh 1908 taken to Derry Jail from Garvagh
Station.
2) Seizure of Rifles at Coleraine. During the Home Rule agitation in the
early summer of 1913 two cases of rifles were seized in a cross-channel
steamer at Coleraine quay. The cases were taken to the constabulary
barracks, and in due time were conveyed by rail to Derry. There are seen in
the above picture at Coleraine Railway Station.

Memorial now occupied a position over the historic pump which was the scene
of contention between rival political sections, who on festival occasions
endeavoured to place upon it party emblems. A portion of the old pump
remains at the base of the War Memorial.
