just a small collection of things not specifically connected to Ireland except for the bottom item and the fact these things all ended up at auction in Northern Ireland so there has to be a connection somewhere.


I assume this is Mr. Hoult, I like the smiling ones but it seems he liked the bottom one best :)

1) 24th April 1943 - Confidential Headquarters Northwest Sector, 24th April 1943, Subject: Control Mining Station Reykjaskoli. To: Admiral Commanding in ...land.
This is to certify that this date I have taken over operation of the above mine field from Lieutenant B. P. Hoult, R.N.V.R. and same is functioning to my complete satisfaction.
All technical property of this station is taken over this date and is in a satisfactory condition.

3) October 1943, 1st November 1943 - Naval Message to Admiralty Secret (R) RNO Inverness from C in C Rosyth - Following received from BAO Inverness - "At conference with Army today, Army requested that Navy provide Senior Lieut. to work with Army Captain appointed as Camp Commandant, Cameron Barracks, and arriving tomorrow 20th October, these two officers to co-ordinate marching in of the two Services. With reference to Rosyth No. 3721/0986XDVI/B of 16th October, para 4, request one Lieutenant RNVR be appointed as soon as possible to Inverness. TOO 191815 October 1943 CSO LCB T/P To all addressees. LCB Rosyth BAO Inverness - At conference with Army today, Army requested that Navy provide Senior Lieut. to work with Army Captain appointed as Camp Commandant Cameron Barracks, and arriving tomorrow 20th Oct., these two officers to co-ordinate marching in of two Services. A zealous & hard working Officer who had charge of the two ? Camps on this Air Station. Confidential.  Most Immediate.   716A THE GERMAN HIGH COMMAND HAS SURRENDERED UNCONDITIONALLY ALL GERMAN LAND, SEA AND AIR FORCES IN EUROPE, EFFECTIVE FROM 0001B HOURS REPEAT 0001B HOURS 9TH REPEAT 9TH MAY, FROM WHICH HOUR ALL OFFENSIVE OPERATIONS ARE TO CEASE.
     2. DUE TO DIFFICULTIES OF COMMUNICATIONS THERE MAY BE SOME DELAY IN THESE ORDERS REACHING ENEMY FORCES, ACCORDINGLY, DANGER OF ATTACK BY INDIVIDUAL ENEMY SURFACE CRAFT, U-BOATS AND AIRCRAFT MAY PERSIST FOR SOME TIME TO COME. To B. P. Hoult, Lieutenant Commander (SP) R.N.V.R.  1. You are being released from Service, as a Class A Release.  2. The date of your Release will be 17th February 1947.  3. You have been granted leave as follows, starting on the day after the date of this Order:- 3 days foreign service leave expiring on 23rd December 1946 and 56 days resettlement leave expiring on the date of your Release.  4. You are free to take up civil employment at any time after the date of this Order.  5. You may wear civilian clothing while on leave, and you are to cease to wear uniform after the date of your release, but you should keep your uniform intact in case you are recalled for service.  6. After your release you will be regarded as being in Reserve, and you will be liable, until the end of the present emergency, to recall to the Naval Service by the revocation of this Order at any time. You will not be recalled, however, except in extreme emergency.  7. Your home address is noted in official records as follows:- Ingledene, Allport Road, Bromborough, Cheshire.  You are to report all changes to the Secretary of the Admiralty. Failure to do so may involve delay in payment of war gratuity or such other payments to which you may be entitled under naval regulations.  8.
