3) We live in deeds, not years; in thoughts, not breaths; In feelings, not in figures on a dial. We should count time by heart-throbs; he must live, Who thinks most, feels the noblest, acts the best ~ Bailey.  Life is a little gleam of time between two eternities ~ Carlyle
4) Any Wife to Her Husband by Carol Haynes ~ Let us be guests in one another's house, With deferential "No" - and courteous "Yes"; Let us take care to hide our foolish moods, Behind a certain show of cheerfulness.  Let us avoid all sullen silences; We should find fresh and sprightly things to say - I must be fearful lest you find me dull, And you must dread to bore me any way.  Let us knock gently at each other's heart, Glad of a chance to look within - and yet, Let us remember that to force one's way, Is the unpardoned breach of etiquette.  So shall I be the hostess - you, the host, Until all need for entertainment ends. We shall be lovers when the last door shuts . . . But what is better still - we shall be friends.

1) "Tear" in Princess Elizabeth's Eye. Jubilee Stamp Novelty. Canadian Forgers Busy. Ottawa, Saturday - Attempts are being made to forge a "tear" on the Princess Elizabeth one-cent postage stamp issued in Canada in celebration of the King's Silver Jubilee, according to the Post Office Authorities in Ottawa. Among philatelists this stamp is known as the "Weeping Princess" because of a small imperfection underneath Princess Elizabeth's right eye, which resembles a tear. The "tear" (says Reuter) appears only on one stamp in certain sheets issued by the Post Office - the left stamp in the third row from the top. The "Weeping Princess" has become a rarity among stamp collectors and is now quite valuable, so forgers are giving Princess Elizabeth bogus tears and selling the stamps. The forgers are simply inking in a spot of green under the Princess's eye, but the forgeries can be easily detected by experts.
2) Mussolini and Boy Fascists. Partial "Mobilisation. 1925 Speech Repeated.
3) City Lamps. How proud am I to stand alone Upon the Cavehill's heights, And gaze with awe upon my own Belov'd city's lights.  Each lamp is like a star to me, So beautiful they shine; No fairy lamps could ever be More brilliant than thine.  I love the jewelled points that gleam Across the dusky space, And lovingly in joy I seem Thy sacred form to trace.  Oh, city lamps, shine on, shine on! Thy spirit cannot die Whilst we, thy sons, may look upon Such splendid majesty.  Thomas Carnduff (Belfast Shipyard)
4) ......The organist of Ballysillan, Mr. Edward Hogg, may be complimented upon the efficient manner in which the musical portion of the service was rendered. - Welsh Bride Battered. Neighbours Hand Over Husband. A woman who recently returned from her honeymoon to Pentrepoeth, near Llanelly, was found in bed with her throat cut and her head badly battered. Her husband, Rees Thomas, an elderly man, has been arrested on charge of attempted murder. He appeared in court and was formally remanded. The woman was taken to hospital in the police ambulance, and is in a critical condition.

The enclosed is to pay for your next sweet ration & this letter is not to be replied to, I shall see you soon in Malone Avenue. No one should have letters to write when they are on holidays! Tell Mummy I'm glad she is having a good time. At the moment I'm cooking dinner & writing this on my knee. Tomorrow I go to the country for a few days. For three whole days we have had all meals, except breakfast, served in the garden. Isn't that a good weather record for the North of Ireland? Love & good wishes to all 4.
