1) TORRENS- At his residence, Mullan, on the 11th inst., Robert
Torrens, ages 78 years. Death of Mr. Robert Torrens - It is with
feelings of regret that we chronicle the demise of Mr. Robert Torrens, which
took place at his residence, Mullan, on Tuesday, at the ripe age of 78
years. Deceased was a man who lived an upright and industrious life, and
always regarded it as a privilege to oblige his fellow-man, and that, too,
without the semblance of outward show. Large are the numbers outside the
circle of the deceased's relatives who sorrow for their departed friend. For
some thirty years he was connected with First Kilrea Presbyterian Church,
and no member of that congregation stood higher in the estimation of the
pastor, and no parent set a better example. He leaves a widow, two sons, and
six daughters, to whom we tender our sincere sympathy in their bereavement.
The funeral, which took place on Thursday afternoon, was large and
representative, and the place of interment was the family burying-ground
connected with Moneydig Presbyterian Church. TORRENS - In
Hospital, New York City (of pneumonia), on 3rd November, 1922, Mary,
daughter of the late Robert Torrens, The Mullan, Kilrea. Deeply regretted.
TORRENS - At the residence of her son-in-law, Ballyagan, Garvagh, on
the 1st March 1933, Elizabeth, wife of the late Robert Torrens, Mullan,
Kilrea, in her 87th year. Deeply regretted. Another link with the
older generation has been broken by the death of Mrs. Torrens, relict of the
late Robert Torrens, Mullan, which took place on the 1st inst. Deceased was
of an amiable and kindly nature, and took a great interest in the welfare of
her family. To her son, Mr. D. C. Torrens, Mullan, one of the most respected
and popular members of the community, genuine sympathy will be extended.
