3) Death of Mr. George Scott: A very wide circle of friends and acquaintances will learn with deep and sincere sorrow of the death of Mr. Geo. Scott, which took place this afternoon at his residence, 37 Wellesley Avenue, after a painful illness. The late Mr. Scott, who was only 39 years of age, was very highly respected, and his genial temperament and invariable courtesy won for him hosts of friends. A hard worker, who devoted himself most assiduously to his business, he was for 15 years the chief clerk in the office of the Belfast Steamship Company, and when the Belfast and Manchester Steamship Company was formed for the purpose of running steamers through the Ship Canal, he was appointed agent. He served his time in Armagh with the Great Northern Railway Company, where, under the late Mr. J. W. Philp, the goods superintendent, he rose to the position of rates clerk. In the year 1892 he transferred his services to the Belfast Steamship Company, and by attention and care he made steady and constant progress. Coming into contact with the travelling public, he was rightly regarded as a most polite and obliging official, and his early demise will be deplored not only by the firm, but by all those who had the pleasure of his personal acquaintance. The deceased was an ardent and enthusiastic Mason, being a member of No. 262 Richmond, and of the Royal Arch Chapter. During his long illness he was attended by Dr. Rusk, who was untiring in his efforts to restore health, while Mrs. Scott, who survives the deceased gentleman, nursed him with loving care. The premature close of a promising life will occasion the greatest sorrow wherever the late Mr. Scott was known.

5) Thrown from Trap: At Clitheroe, on Saturday night, a youth named Frank Bailey, of Cleveleys, near Blackpool, was killed through the overturning of a trap, in which he was riding with his uncle, a baker, named Horsfield. The accident was caused through the horse slipping on the tar macadamed road.
