Edith Tate
a lot of photos, very few names, to save time I've cropped many in batches of matching code numbers on the back
these numbers are written or printed on the majority of old photos and when a large lot comes to me bundled in a bag it makes it really hard trying to organise them into groups, so I organised them into groups according to the numbers or letters on the back of them, you'll see those in (brackets) any information on the groups of photos will be as follows: starting with a) top left and going to the right b) , then down to the next row c) and again to the right etc. etc.
On the computer you can right click each group of photos and open in a new page, then minimise so you can see the writing that corresponds with each photo. I've also included the numbers of individual photos, that was so I could check that they didn't belong to any of the bigger groups.

8) a) This is a view of Calafrana, the R.A.F. station taken from the Hotel Verandah. It is more than a mile away & will give you a fair idea what our bay looks like. It is well names 'Pretty Bay' The two tall masts are Wireless Aerials & are almost 150 ft. high. The pier is an admiralty pier for use of the stations torpedo depot? only.  b) This church stands on the very top of the hill in the same cemetery & is the only one I have seen of this type of architecture in Malta. I did not manage inside.  c) This is a fairly good view of part of the grand harbour, taken from a public garden 200 feet above sea level. The big liner is an Italian one & you see how the passengers are taken off by means of these small boats. The other is a cargo boat. Behind is H.M.S. ? & behind that is the aeroplane carrier Courageous. Unfortunately there was a sea haze that day & the big Hospital beside the first tall mast is hardly discernable.  d) This is a small section of a very fine cemetery. It is supposed to be one of the finest in Europe. Note the huge tombs & the fine marble monuments.  e) This is one of the huge tombs. They are very elaborate & costly things & inside is a very beautiful altar, under the floor is the vault, & in one I saw in course of construction, it will hold as many as 24 coffins, it is a square place & there are 6 places in each side.  f) You asked for details of the work. Well here is it under course of construction. There are two Maltese men there & the others are our own workmen. Sorry I could not be in the picture as I was the photographer. Isn't it an isolated spot, as fully exposed to the elements as it could be.  g) "Monarch of all he surveys."
9) top: The Flower Clock, Princess Street, Edinburgh, taken the last day of my summer holidays 26/7/30 Aw? bottom: A budding Bobby Jones? Taken on Eaglescliffe golf course about 3 miles away from Stockton. A comparatively New Course & the same one I saw Braid & Whit? playing. Aw?
