1) Royalty and Belfast Pilot - Mr. Wm. Heggan, a licensed pilot under the
jurisdiction of the Harbour Commissioners who had the distinction of
piloting the Royal yacht inside the Belfast pilotage area, was presented to
their Majesties on their arrival at Stranraer on Wednesday night. Mr. Heggan
travelled all the way on the yacht, and when he was introduced to the Royal
visitors by Admiral Dudley North he was engaged by both the King and Queen
in conversation for several minutes. Mr. Heggan greatly appreciated the
signal honour. The Belfast Harbour Commissioners placed their steam tender
Duchess of Abercorn at the service of the port authorities in Stranraer to
convey the Royal party to and from the Victoria and Albert.
