2) 16th September 1988 Parish of Ardkeen, Christ Church, Dedication of Pipe Organ by The Bishop of Down and Dromore (The Rt. Reverend Dr. Gordon McMullan) 'The Anthem' was written by Robert Langston (Born 1949), the Director of Music at St. Bride's Church, Fleet Street, London and first performed in 1975 at a service attended by HRH The Prince of Wales. We are most grateful to Robert Langston for allowing us to use his anthem at this dedication service - perhaps one of the first performances not given by the choir for whom it was written.  'Stephen Shaw', the builder of the organ, has contributed the following notes. The origins of the organ in Christ Church, Ardkeen are shrouded in mystery. Neither the name of the original builder nor the date of its construction are known. The instrument was purchased second-hand, apparently from a church in Liverpool, and installed in the church by Peter Conagher & Co. in 1913. When I was asked to inspect the organ in the summer of 1987, I found it to be in a state of advanced delapidation. (click image 2 to read full text)
