18th Feb. Jack's birthday. Went to see Sadie Cosgrove. Went to see Aunt
Kate, her son E. Parkinson died in R.V.H. Aunt C. had to leave, very ill
with Bronchitis. 28th Feb. W. Watsons, birthday N.S.W. Wrote T. Cowzer re E.
Parkinsons death. Mr. Ball went with is to the farm, sis the usual cooking &
baking. 1st Bangor first congregation. Went to see Harken family. Called to

Went to Strandtown saw Sadie. Anniversary of Grandfathers death 6th Mar.
Dorothy & Watson discuss future of 61 Onslow Parade. Mrs. Cotter is ill in
bed. Anniversary of my fathers? death, also Aunt J. Hughes? Harry not very
well. Dr. Ca?lier called to give Rd. injection for Rheumatism. Ina Robinson
called. Mrs. Watson has been ill. Mr. & Mrs. Boddin? called. Called to see
Victor McWilliams' mother. Sadie & I walked up to the Abbey to visit Aunties
grave, had walk round the shore.

Went to Crossgar to see Mr. Tom Hughes who is very ill.

Richard, Jack, Dorothy & Evelyn went to city, R. & J. to buy horse. Finished
Jacket for Bessie Morrow. Went to visit Mr. & Mrs. Douglas, Ballyholme
Esplanade. Coldest Easter on record. Mr. Hughes very much failed. Baby?
Turkington does not look well. Secured the little cottage for Sadie for
June. Bought little Silver Cup for Baby Cunningham, went to see Mrs. J??
Cunningham & 2 babies, Mrs. S. Cunn. called. At Ballyblack helping in potato
field.

Went out to Ballyblack after tea, Richard told me on the way out that he was
going to send me to the States to see the girls. What a joyful surprise. I
could hardly restrain my tears, he had been to see Mr. Douglas of McCalla's
about me going. My birthday 10th May. Stuart Ball had an operation for
appendicitis. Harry in bed, cold in chest, Dr. Bradley came to see him.

7) Belfast Telegraph, Aug. 15, '52 Princess spent 'thrilling house' in
cathedral. The Dean of Derry (Very Rev. L. R. Lawrenson, M.A.) who conducted
the Princess Royal over Derry's ancient Cathedral during her recent visit to
the city, has received a personal letter from Her Royal Highness, thanking
him for sending to her the wording of the inscription on the Browning-Baker
tablet in which she expressed an interest. Her Royal Highness, while in the
Cathedral, had expressed a wish to have a copy of the inscription. Another
letter on behalf of the Princess Royal states that the Dean's impromptu
organ recital, which included the Londonderry Air, crowned the delights of a
thrilling hour for Her Royal Highness.

Thompson removes a link with the older generation of worshippers at
Mountpottinger. The sad event took place at her residence, Dundela Villa,
Strandtown. She was an estimable lady, and her late husband was for many
years circuit steward. His work and worth are perpetuated in the Thompson
Memorial Hall of the Pitt Street Mission. - Methodist Church Quarterly
Ticket June 1908 Rebecca Watson - Death of the Founder of the S.C.A. has
occurred at Tonbridge, Kent, of Miss Lucy Sophia Jane Deacon, a member of
the well-known family of bankers and the founder of the Soldiers' Christian
Association, which began as a small personal affair, in a few years
developed into an Empire-wide organisation, linking up soldiers' homes in
the majority of military stations in this country and in India. It is known
for its staunch adherence to the fundamentals of the Gospel, and for the
solid work it does among our men of the Army and Air Force. Miss Deacon was
the only woman on the committee, and during the war identified herself
whole-heartedly with the interests of the soldiers. She was also on the
committee of the Marylebone Female Protection Society, instituted by her
grand-father, Mr. John Deacon. Sep. 8, 1927 (photo) Miss Lucy Sophia Jane
Deacon. - In the course of a visit to the railway works, at Stratford, the
King inquired the age of an employee of more that 50 years' service. The
reply was: "I am 73 years old, sir." The Queen, noting the man's youthful
appearance, exclaimed, "73 years young, you mean!" The Rev. R. S. Lee, an
Irish Wesleyan minister, has three sons in the ministry. One is the Rev.
Wesley G. Lee, of Larne. The second is the Rev. Joseph Lee, of Barron,
Alberta. The third is pastor of Chestnut Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia.
Rev. R. S. Lee entered the ministry in 1869, and retired from active work in

(AP) Rev. Francis E. Clark, 75, founder and president of the World Christian
Endeavour society, died at his home here Thursday, He had been ill for three
