1) 16th April 1970  Larne Times - Mr. W. R. Richard Mears, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Mears, Coleraine, with his bride, Miss Daphne Hope Bishop, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Bishop, 16 Gleneden Park, Jordanstown, Newtownabbey, after their wedding in St. Patrick's.
2) The Late Captain George Reid, formerly of the Belfast Steamship Co. whose death occurred on Thursday: The funeral took place from the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, to-day of Captain George Reid, of Prince Arthur Cottage, Kilroot, who was well known as a captain of the Belfast Steamship Company. A large number of friends and acquaintances attended at the Royal Victoria Hospital and accompanied the remains on the first stage of the journey to Carrickfergus. On arrival at the latter town the cortege was joined by many of the residents, amongst whom the deceased and his family were greatly esteemed. The chief mourners were the immediate relatives. Rev. Alexander Cairns, Donegall Street Congregational Church, conducted the service at the graveside. Messrs. Adam Turner, Clifton Street, Belfast, had charge of the funeral arrangements.
