Ballymacarrett

Ballymacarrett is united to Belfast by the Queen's Bridge, and is situate in the County Down side of the River Lagan. It embraces an area of 576 acres.  During the past two years it has been considerably improved, and many new streets of houses have been erected.   A large number of the inhabitants are employed in the foundries, vitriol works, rope works, felt works, mills, etc., in the vicinity.  Mountpottinger and Lagan Village are included in Ballymacarrett.  On account of its immediate proximity and connexion with Belfast, the names of its inhabitants are included in the Alphabetical Directory of Belfast.
