Shell Casing for 3.7" Gun Lot ECC 1942
3.7 inch Shell Case similar to those fired
in action by the 8th (Belfast) Regiment
The shell itself weighed 26lbs and could be fired to a height of
30,000 feet (higher than Mount Everest) against enemy aircraft
Used in the Ground Roll the shell could be fired up to 12 miles with
great accuracy - hence the complimentary nickname given to the
regiment
"The Twelve Mile Snipers"
