Currently tracing my family tree - quite straight forward until about 1840, then things become rather difficult. Anyone that can shed a little light on tracing people further back than that - please speak up!
Great web site - will send some information regarding two of my Great Uncles who fought in WW1.

I'll be taking a closer look in to all the information on this website.

I'd love to be able to find out more about my grandfather John Joseph Gallagher born in Rathfriland in 1914, he had a sister Rita and their father was James a Constable in the R.I.C. They lived in Downpatrick Street probably in the 1930's.

Hi

Re: McCartney Family Tree

Very interesting site.

This is a message for User 474.

My name is Carmel McCartney.
I am a native of Gortnaghey, Dungiven, County Derry.
There was a post on a Gortnaghey Website stating that your Grandfather, Henry was born in 1894 in Gortnaghey, Dungiven.
Since Gortnaghey is only a wee hamlet, I feel that your Grandfather must be related to my Grandfather, Michael McCartney, whose Father was Charles McCartney.
Any information you can give me would be very much appreciated. Many thanks. Carmel

But I would love someone to give me information about EDWARD COCHRAN of 3,Donegal Street Belfast in the very early 1800s. Plus COCHRAN & SHAW - WATCHMAKERS of 4, BRIDGE STREET, BELFAST, I have tried to find the premises on Google Street View, but can't tell where it is.
